Play Blackjack online free — no real money, just the classic 21
Blackjack is the casino card game everyone knows: beat the dealer by getting closer to 21 without going over. Play Blackjack online free on CardCouch with play-money chips — there is no real money anywhere on this site, nothing to deposit and nothing to buy. You start with 1,000 free chips, bet with them, and reload them for nothing if they run out. It is a place to enjoy the game and practise the decisions, not a casino.
The rules are the standard ones you will meet at most tables: a six-deck shoe, the dealer stands on every 17 including soft 17, Blackjack pays 3 to 2, you may double on any first two cards (also after a split), split any pair up to three hands, and take insurance when the dealer shows an Ace. An optional basic-strategy hint shows the mathematically best play for every hand against every up-card, so you can learn the chart while you play.
On CardCouch
- Standard casino rules: six decks, dealer stands on soft 17, Blackjack pays 3:2, double on any two cards and after a split, split up to three hands (split Aces get one card each), insurance and even money offered against a dealer Ace, no surrender.
- Play-money chips only: a 1,000-chip bankroll that is remembered on your device, chip buttons for 5, 25, 100 and 500, repeat-bet and deal-again buttons, and a free reload when you run out. No real money, ever.
- An optional basic-strategy hint (the published six-deck, stand-on-soft-17 chart) that names the best action — hit, stand, double or split — for the hand in front of you, so the game doubles as a strategy trainer.
- The dealer plays one visible card at a time, every total is shown as soft or hard, and each settled hand tells you exactly why you won or lost; plays on any phone or desktop with the keyboard, a mouse or touch.
Frequently asked questions
- Is this real money Blackjack?
- No. CardCouch Blackjack uses play-money chips only. There is nothing to deposit, nothing to buy and nothing to win or lose except the chips on screen, which reload for free when they run out.
- Does the dealer hit soft 17?
- No. The dealer stands on all 17s, including soft 17, which is the rule that favours the player. The dealer draws only while below 17 and only if at least one of your hands is still live.
- Can I split and double?
- Yes. Double on any first two cards, including after a split (one card is dealt and the hand stands). Split any pair, including two different ten-value cards, up to three hands. Split Aces receive one card each and cannot hit.
- What does Blackjack pay?
- A natural Blackjack — an Ace and a ten-value card on the first two cards — pays 3 to 2. If the dealer also has Blackjack the hand is a push. A 21 made after a split is an ordinary 21, not a Blackjack.
- Is there a strategy hint?
- Yes. Turn on the basic-strategy hint and the table shows the best action for your current hand against the dealer's up-card, from the standard six-deck, dealer-stands-on-soft-17 chart. It is off by default so you can test yourself first.
