Frequently asked questions
- Can every FreeCell game be won?
- Almost. With four free cells, well over 99.9% of deals are solvable, so a loss is nearly always a wrong move rather than a bad shuffle. Use Undo, or replay the same game number.
- How many cards can I move at once?
- As many as you could shuttle through the empty spaces one at a time: (empty free cells + 1) × 2 to the power of empty columns. The game moves the run for you and tells you the limit if a run is too long.
- What do the game numbers mean?
- Each deal is generated from a number between 1 and 1,000,000, and the same number always gives the same layout. CardCouch uses its own numbering, so deals do not match Windows FreeCell numbers.
- Is FreeCell free to play here and does it work on a phone?
- Yes and yes. FreeCell on CardCouch is free, needs no download or account, and the eight-column board scales to fit a phone screen.
