Play Gin Rummy online free against the computer

Gin Rummy is the classic two-player card game of sets and runs: draw a card, discard a card, and shape your ten cards into melds until the deadwood left over is small enough to knock — or gone entirely for gin. Play Gin Rummy online free on CardCouch, in your browser, with no download and no account.

The table sorts your hand into the best possible melds automatically and shows your deadwood count every turn. Knock at 10 or less, go for the 25-point gin bonus, lay off onto the knocker's melds, and watch for the undercut. Hands are scored on the difference in deadwood and the first player to 100 wins, with the 100-point game bonus and 25 per hand won added at the end.

On CardCouch

  • Standard Gin Rummy rules: 10 cards each, aces low, knock at 10 or less, gin bonus 25, undercut bonus 25, laying off, draw when the stock runs out, games to 100.
  • Automatic optimal meld arrangement and deadwood count — the game finds the best sets and runs for you.
  • Three difficulty levels; the Hard opponent tracks what you pick up and avoids feeding you useful cards.
  • A hand-by-hand score sheet, a clear hand-end summary of both hands, and a phone-first table with keyboard and screen-reader support.

Frequently asked questions

Can you knock with exactly 10 deadwood?
Yes. You may knock whenever the deadwood in your ten cards, after discarding, totals 10 points or fewer. Choose the card to discard and the Knock button lights up when it is legal.
What does the computer do when I knock?
It lays off any deadwood it can onto your melds, then the hand is scored. If its remaining deadwood is equal to or lower than yours, it undercuts you for the difference plus 25.
How is the first upcard handled?
As a house rule, the first player simply chooses between taking the upcard and drawing from the stock — there is no pass-and-offer exchange on the opening card.
Is Gin Rummy free to play here?
Yes. Gin Rummy on CardCouch is free, needs no download or sign-up, and works on phones, tablets and desktops. Your difficulty setting is remembered on your device.
