Terms of Use

These terms apply to everything on cardcouch.com ("CardCouch", "we", "the site"): the games, the guides, the printable sheets and the rest. By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. They are written in plain language on purpose; the plain meaning is the intended one.

1. What CardCouch is

CardCouch is a free website for playing classic card games in your browser against the computer, together with guides on how the games are played and how to play them better. It is run by an individual, not a company, as an independent hobby project paid for by advertising.

2. Free to use, no accounts

Everything on the site is free. There are no accounts, subscriptions or purchases. We may add, change, pause or remove any game, guide or feature at any time, and we may stop running the site altogether, without notice and without owing anyone anything.

3. No gambling, no real money

Nothing on CardCouch involves real money. Blackjack is played with play-money chips that have no value, cannot be bought or sold, and cannot be cashed out. The site does not offer, arrange or promote gambling of any kind, and it is not a gambling service.

The strategy guides, including the Blackjack basic strategy chart, describe how the games work in general. They are educational. They are not gambling, financial, legal or professional advice, they do not guarantee any result, and they are not an encouragement to bet real money anywhere. Every casino game keeps a house edge. If you choose to play any game for real money elsewhere, you do so entirely at your own risk and on your own judgement: only where it is legal for you, only with money you can afford to lose, and with help sought if gambling stops being fun.

4. Provided as it is

The site and everything on it are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent the law allows. That includes any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We do not promise that the site will be available, error-free or uninterrupted, that any game follows every rule variant you may be used to, that a deal is winnable, or that any guide is complete, accurate or up to date. We try hard to get the rules right and we fix mistakes when they are reported, but we make no guarantee.

5. No responsibility for how you use it

To the fullest extent the law allows, CardCouch and the person who runs it accept no responsibility or liability for any loss, damage, cost or claim of any kind, whether direct or indirect, arising from your use of the site or from anything on it. That includes, without limitation: any decision, bet or wager you make anywhere on the strength of a guide, chart or piece of advice on this site; any money you lose gambling; lost game progress, statistics or saved games; and any interruption, error or unavailability of the site. Where liability cannot be excluded by law, it is limited to the amount you paid to use the site, which is nothing.

6. Your data stays with you

There are no accounts. Settings, statistics, records and unfinished games are saved in your own browser, on your own device, and can be lost if you clear your browser data or switch devices. We are not responsible for that data and cannot recover it. What we do collect, and how advertising and analytics work, is described in the privacy policy.

7. Fair use of the site

You agree not to:

• interfere with the site, overload it, or try to break its security;
• use bots, scrapers or automated tools to copy the site or generate ad views;
• frame the site or present its games or guides as your own;
• use the site for anything unlawful.

8. Content and ownership

The rules of classic card games belong to nobody. Our implementations, guides, printable sheets, artwork, name and logo belong to CardCouch. You may print the guides and sheets for your own personal, non-commercial use and share links to them freely. Please do not republish or sell the content itself. If you believe something on the site infringes your rights, email us and we will look into it promptly.

9. Advertising and third-party links

The site is funded by advertisements served by third-party networks. We do not control the advertisers or the sites they link to, and we are not responsible for their content, products or practices. Links from our guides to other websites are provided for convenience only and do not mean we endorse them.

10. Age

The games are suitable for all ages, but the site is intended for use by people who are old enough to agree to these terms in their country, or who are using it with a parent or guardian's permission.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows the latest version, and using the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the country in which CardCouch is operated, and any dispute will be handled in the courts of that country, unless the law where you live gives you rights that cannot be taken away, in which case those rights are unaffected. If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
